Privacy Policy

SnapSell ("we", "us") is a web app at snap-sell.com that helps you create marketplace listings from photos using AI. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What We Collect
If you use SnapSell without an account
- Your IP address — to enforce the anonymous free tier limit (1 listing per day) and prevent abuse. If you create a free account, your free tier limit increases to 3/day and is tracked by your account instead. IP addresses are stored in server logs that are rotated every 30 days.
- Photos you upload — sent to our AI service for analysis. Photos are processed in real time and then discarded. We do not store your photos.
- Cookies — essential cookies for the site to work, plus optional analytics cookies (see "Cookies" below).
If you create an account
In addition to the above:
- Email address — for login, account recovery, and transactional emails (like purchase receipts).
- Name (optional) — only if you choose to provide it.
- Usage history — how many listings you've generated and credits remaining.
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor, Polar (built on Stripe). We never see or store your card number. We only store a record that a purchase was made and the credits added.
- Passkey credentials — if you use passkey login, the credential is stored securely for authentication.
- Third-party sign-in data — if you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive your email address (or Apple's privacy-relay address if you choose "Hide My Email") and, where provided, your display name. We do not receive your password or any other data from the provider. Apple's privacy-relay email (
[email protected]) forwards messages to your real inbox without exposing your real email address to us. If you later sign in with the same email via another method, Better Auth (our authentication library) will auto-link the accounts so you don't end up with duplicates. Relay-email accounts are treated as separate identities and are never auto-linked to real-email accounts.
- Referral data — if you participate in our referral program, we store: your own referral code (e.g.
SNAP-K3X9), the referral code of the user who referred you (if any), and a timestamp when your referral reward was credited. We do not track click-through behavior on referral links beyond what Plausible-style analytics would capture. Friends you refer can see that someone was referred by your code (via the count on their account page), but not your email or name.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone. We do not use your data for advertising.
AI Processing
When you upload a photo, here is what happens:
- Your photo is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI, a third-party AI service, for analysis.
- The AI identifies the item and generates a listing (title, description, price suggestion, tags).
- The generated listing is sent back to your browser.
- Your photo is not stored by us after processing. It is processed in memory and discarded.
For paid AI product photos, your original photo is similarly processed by AI to generate new images. The original is not retained.
AI-generated content (listings, prices, photos) is created by artificial intelligence and may not be perfectly accurate. You should review all generated content before using it.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate SnapSell. Each has its own privacy policy:
Cookies
Essential cookies (always active): session management and security tokens. These are required for the site to function.
Analytics cookies (optional): help us understand how the site is used. These are only set if you accept them via our cookie banner. You can change your preference at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.
Data Retention
- Listing data and uploaded photos: automatically deleted after 14 days. This includes generated listing text, platform-specific content, and any AI-generated product photos stored in our systems.
- Purchase history: retained indefinitely as financial records for your account.
- Usage logs: anonymized generation logs are retained indefinitely for operational and cost-tracking purposes.
- Server logs (IP addresses): rotated every 30 days.
- Account data: kept until you delete your account.
- Analytics data: aggregated, kept up to 12 months.
Your Rights
All users
- You can manage cookie preferences via the cookie banner or footer link.
- Free users: we don't store personal data beyond temporary server logs. There is nothing to export or delete.
Account holders
- Access your data — view and download your account information from your account settings.
- Delete your account — permanently delete your account and all associated data from your account settings.
- Update your information — edit your name and email in account settings.
- Data portability — export your data in a standard format (JSON).
For EU residents (GDPR)
You have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including the rights to access, rectify, erase, and port your data, and to object to processing. Our legal basis for processing is: contract performance (for account features), legitimate interest (for rate limiting and basic analytics), and consent (for optional analytics cookies).
For California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell your personal information. You have the right to know what data we collect, request deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
Children
SnapSell is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. For account holders, we may also notify you by email.
